Alpine and ipod cable problem. (error-01)???

Question

I have an alpine cde 9874 headunit and i just bought the full speed cable for it to hook my ipod touch 8gb ver..1.1.4 the cable is the kce-422i. now when i hook my ipod into hte stereo it will play the song i selected for about 20 seconds and then it will stop and send my ipod to the menu. then the headunit reads error-01. anybody know wat is wrong???? my headunit is supposed to work with this ipod.
