Alpine cda-7892 Head unit overheating

Question

I have installed the 7892 in an older BMW with good speakers for all 4 channels. All lights are fine,CD plays, radio plays both with low power and high distortion on all 4 channels, The top of the unit around the output IC area is VERY hot and remains so even with the speakers disconnected. What oh what can the problem be?
