  1. I would go with the type r's and a nice 4 channel amp. A friend of mine has the same set up and it sounds great. Type x's are a step up but may not be necessary depending on how much you want to spend and what kind of sound output you want. Either way you are looking at quality speakers and it would be best to put an amp to them. If this doesnt help go to your local sound shop and see if they have some already hooked up that you can compare.

  2. I would go with the TYPE X....One thing that does stand out about the type r was its lack of the ability to take power. They didnt seem like 110 watts RMS.More like 60 watts. They actually would bottom out quite easily.so i would go with type x for that extra power handling and loudness.

I personally owned a pair of ALPINE type r 6.5" set.At first I liked them and they sounded pretty good....BUT I went from the Type R to a different brand Called CDT.These BLEW the type R away....so bad that I now began to think the Type R were c**p.....But in the defense of the Alpine R,I had a cheap Deck...That may have played a major role...BUT I do know they would always reach there mechanical limits(bottom out)quite easily.
