Nicholson has done so many good roles. He was amazing as the joker, but wasn't the best. Ledger took it to a whole new level. Yet Nicholson is a better actor I find.

It's wild, I thought I'd always say nicholson, and maybe it's because nobody likes speaking ill of the dead...but I have to go with Ledger.  I mean, a lot of it is makeup and directing (unless that freaky stunt with the pen was Heath's idea).

the two roles and two movies were very different. for the movies they were in, i think they both did excellent work.

but heath scared the living c**p out of me in that role, so my final vote goes to him.

Jack is a great actor and I didn't think anyone could out do him But, Heath Ledger was the one who took jacks spot to a whole new level. there will never be another joker as great as heath.

Heath Ledger hands down. Jack Nicholson's Joker was amazing, and the exact depiction of the comic book Joker. But the recent Batman movies have been trying to take it to another level above marvel comics. Heath Ledger was extraordinary, without his character the movie wouldn't have been as good.
