  1. Okay well yes volleyball is mainly a girls sport, and lets face it, we kick butt in it, lol. You rarely find men's club teams but hey, if this is what he loves to do, hooray for him. As long as he has somewhere to play and good people to play with, i say good for him! Hope this helps!

  2. I completely agree with you!  Guys also have a tendency of wanting to spike the ball so they will do what ever it takes to not only get the ball over the net but to pound it down on the other team.  Next time he gets made fun of he can tell them now he gets to spend time with the volleyball hotties.  ;-)

  3. i played volleyball freshmen year and i didnt care, it was fun spiking the ball in the other peoples faces. lol i say volleyball is a really team sport. anyone can play the game.

  4. People just bag on him cuz he dont play football or sumthing more manly!!  But the people who make fun probly have never tried it so they think its lame and girly, but if they would give it a shot then they would probly LOVE it!! hahahaha

  5. People should support their athletes!

It's not a guy thing.  Maybe these people are jealous or control freaks?

  6. I t always amazes me when I hear about guys getting made fun of or called g*y for playing volleyball, cause I just cant imagine it. Volleyball is a guys and a girls sport. At my school there is a Varsity and JV Boys team, and none of them ever get made fun of. In fact, some of the guys are TOTAL hotties, and there not "different", "weird" and DEFINITELY not g*y because of it. In fact, most of them have girlfriends, or are some of the most popular guys in the grade. Volleyball is just another sport, like soccer or tennis. It just so happens that guys and girls BOTH play it, but some schools dont have teams for the guys.

Volleyball is my passion too, and one of my favourite things about it is that guys and girls can both play, and in fact, the guys are (sometimes) even better than we are, cause they can hit a lot harder than we can. Tell your friend that I think guys who play volleyball are hot, and that a lot of soccer players are a h**l of a lot gayer than volleyball players, and good for him for not letting a bunch of idiots put him off playing a fantastic sport.

  7. Reason #1.  There is a double standard.

Reason #2.  Usually only ignorant people, those with low self esteem or those who are trying to hide their own inadequacies (sp?) tease.  It's in psychology 101.

People who's opinion is worth something won't tease.

The other reason may be that few sports (using a ball) are not gender biased.  i.e., in most sports, guys have a natural advantage through size, strength, or speed.  Volleyball is one of the few that minimizes that gender advantage, allowing girls to hang with or even beat guys.  A guy can spike hard because of strength.  A girl can spike hard because of skill. The gender advantage is still there but not to the same degree of say, contact football or basketball.

I'm not being sexist, but remember, that when that one girl "dunked", it made the news.
