I wish ESPN would let it go and stick to talking about the tennis. I am not surprised if in a little bit they would show the stupid cover.

  1. I didn't know until they talked about it.

And though they are at liberty to talk about whatever, they need to fill in the void because some ppl aren't as interesting to watch when they hit.

The only exception to that rule is FEDERER. He's a beast. Talking during this game should be outlawed. Other than that, commentating about every little thing happens in every single sport kills the empty void of "slow" action

so even though this playboy thing is brought up way too much it is informative for those who just watch a fraction of the game.

  2. I trust you're in the US. Over here in the UK our broadcaster BBC has two options on satellite - commentary or no commentary. Usually have it off (hey hey - not now heh) but when Mac is on or Boris I turn it on because I love their commentary.

  3. There ain't a mute button for nothing.

  4. I agree. They really need to lay off on this whole Ashley Harkleroad posing for Playboy non-issue. I mean, what's the big deal anyway??? I was watching her match with Mauresmo today and all the commentators seem to be talking about was her Playboy cover. So she take off her clothes and posed for the mag... after we have all bought our copies and seen the pics.. it will be yesterdays news, much like everything else that happens in the world today.

  5. i do feel since we are in the digital era, the tv should have a function of muting the commentator and keep the court sounds (like the ball hitting) if the viewer choose so.

sometimes it is out right annoying when they talk during the point. regarding the remarks and comment, keep in mind, their title: "Commentator", their job is to say something, whether it is informative or out right rediculous, it is up to their discretion.

unfortunately, this girl Ashley, playboy is about the only thing they can talk because surely her tennis is not much to talk about.

  6. I, for one. Ah, what time has wrought. When I was young and watching Rod Laver on the grass, there was absolutely no commentary concerning the type of undergarment he was wearing, or the sublime subtlety of his athletic body. To think what I missed!

  7. I know what you mean it's so irritating, sometimes their comments are stupid and they can never just stick to talking about tennis. Ashley can pose for playboy if she wants to and the money she'll get is hers they should be talking about her tennis. They were irritating me when they were talking about Serena's trench coat, they're so stupid, she looks cute in the trench they need to stop being such haters. But then again, that's why god invented the mute button, LOL.

  8. no, they are entitled to talk about whatever they feel.... as would most of us if we were in there position.... and thats what makes it exciting... otherwise it would be a bit boring... they have a right to have some sensationalism....

  9. the commentators should really give it a rest. We already heard a million times about Ashley Harkelroad. If she was good at tennis that would be one thing, but she can't win any matches. ESPN is a sportsnetwork not playboy so they should really stop the craziness! People can't watch tennis in peace anymore! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE.

  10. I think the commentators should stop talking period. Federer fans don't like when the commentators say how far Rafa has come on grass, or how great he is on clay. Rafa fans don't like when Roger is called the greatest of all time. None of them like Djokovic, so no one better say anything good about him. Now they shouldn't talk about playboy. They should avoid all topics of discussion and only announce the score.
