Also looking for Knost?

Question

I am also looking for the Knost surname.

My great-great grandmother, Margaret Schissler or Schuessler, born 1835 in Germany?, married a Mr. Knost after marrying and divorcing Franklin Brandt.

Margaret lived in Somerset County, PA.

Mr. Knost fathered two children, Mary Susan, born 1865, and Christianna, born 1868.

I am looking for his first name and any other details. Possible that he lived (or they lived, at the time of their marriage) in MD, PA, WV, OH.

No genealogy member sites have helped.

Can anyone else help?

this is the summary of the 1870 census for your Margaret. It is (like many) horribly indexed as to the spelling.  Harriet and Juliann are described as domestic servants, for some reason.  It does give the location of Margaret's birth.

So far, I was not able to locate Margaret, the Brandt girls, or Franklin in 1860 census.

Given the dates of the younger girls.. very possible that he was a victim of the Civil War?  Wait.. the younger girl was born in 1868.  So, she was either widowed or divorced in the time between 1865-1870.
