Question:

Altenative view on life?

I was just wondering if anyone had any other views on life. or if they have thought about one of mine.

Imagine if everything around us wasnt real, nobody was real, nothing at all. Our whole lives are just a test to see the way that we react to different things and the path that we choose. After we die we "wake up" form the "test". Is it just me? Am i mad?

i havent been watching too much of the matrix, before anyone asks.

thanks for your answers :)

  1. I've heard someone that had a theory a little like that. But they thought we were all in comas and all of life is like an illusion or dream, and when you die is when you wake up from the coma and live your real life.

    It's interesting I think.

  2. That is an intense thought....

I actually have thought of that. Like this one time, I had an amazing dream that could never possibly come true in real life, and I thought,"Maybe that was real life?" And I was thinking that maybe all of life was just a dream, too.

And I have never seen the Matrix.

  3. I've thought the same thing you have. I think that we're(human beings) are here on earth to learn some sort of lesson. And that's why we have very difficult times in our lives everyday or every other year. I'm mean we all just have to face it, no one will get through life without some kind of struggle. And if we don't learn the lesson we do not learn in our lifetime we "come back" I guess you could say. This is sort of similar to what you call a "test". If we don't not learn lessons to pass the test here in earth we either go to Heaven or h**l. Well I don't want to get too in depth about this, I could go on and on. Ha! Ha!

  4. Your point of view was first documented in ancient Greece by Aristotle, I believe, some 4 thousand years ago.  Try again.

  5. yeah.. philosophy is a complicated subject.

and just before i finished reading your question. i was about to ask if you have been watching the matrix.

the views you have are similar to the matrix but in reality the matrix is similar to Buddhism.

The things you were wondering about were really similar since in Buddhism earth and reality is a thing you need to break free of to "pass the test" and achieve nirvana/enlightenment/etc.

    Though personally im a christian.

  6. a systemic problem

you can't really tell from inside the box

  7. Well, I've always thought that solipsism was interesting: I am the only one alive, and everything else exists in my imagination.

  8. ive thought about this too!have you ever watched the Truman Show? if not, its about a guy whose every aspect of life is filmed as a TV show for people (who he doesnt know about or see). every person he meets is an actor/actress, although he obviously knows nothing about it.its described as a simulated reality. kind of a creepy thought actually. and i dont think youre mad.i guess youre just kind of questioning your existence?thats completely normal and understandable, i think everyone does at some point or another. i mean, its normal to look for some kind of deeper meaning to life, sometimes it can feel pretty pointless.
