Alternative Engine?

Question

If I came up with a working engine that uses pretty much any liquid to run how could I make it so that the car companies would use it. I know I would want to get enviromentalists involved, but what else. because i know some powerful people invest in oil and they would try to keep the engine from being marketed because it would cut into there money. What else would I have to do to have them use it

It would be cheaper to make

It is more enviromental freindley

it runs longer

First and foremost, there is no engine that can use "pretty much any liquid to run."  For example, no engine will run on water.  Regardless of the engine design, the fuel will need to be something that can go through an exothermic reaction.  The energy produced by this reaction will be what makes the engine run.

For the engine to be commercially viable, it must offer economic advantages over currently available engine designs as well as other alternative developments.  If your invention does this, you will have no problems getting someone to use it.  

You also need to get over all the conspiracy theory BS about people trying to keep a good idea from being marketed.  I challenge you to find an actual documented case where an economically competitive idea was successfully suppressed by anyone.

Hmm people with money would love to see a working model of it, and then they can decide when and how they are going to invest on it, but no matter they will invest or not you must first make a patent on it just to be safe. Just remember new things are introduce to the market not just because they are good, but yo uhave to consider the application and economic value for alot of other industry.

I care alot about environment... but I'm also crazy for horse power and torque, and to my narrow mind knowledge there is no other kind of engine yet that produces mind blowing Torque and horse power other that an internal combustion engine, and the raw sound you just gotta love a sound of an internal combustion engine in a high rev.

so what I am hopping from inventors like you is come up with alternative fuel, not alternative engine. so I and all other gear head like us can still enjoy the feel of torque and Horse power.

The alternative fuel, can be from anything, like corn oil, used cooking oil, that is cheap, aboundand in stock, renewable, and clean.i hear they are researching intensivly on it now.

So PERSONALLY I preffer internal combustion to be kept as our current base engine for cars, and I supprt the research for alternative fuel for the internal combustion engine.

About you Idea of a brand new engine design... YOU GO GIRL, one thing for sure though you are a bright mind, which are rare in our generation. Goodluck

By "working engine" does that mean you have a prototype that runs?  When you say "pretty much any liquid," does this include non-flammable stuff like water?

If you really have a working model, the oil companies aren't going to be able to stop it.

First thing you do is get a patent.

if you create a power plant that can run on any fuel, then the first thing you want to do is patent it. next build a working prototype that you can show to potential investors. after that you want to start your own company to build the engine/vehicle and go from there.

If you have really developed such a thing I would tell you to go on one of those reality television shows for inventors. You could also contact your local media and put a video on youtube. If the public is demanding it, they will want answers if it doesn't get adopted by a car maker.

If it really works, make a prototype.  I doubt that you could use water as a fuel, by the way.

Anyway, if you make a prototype, and it works, you can show it to some investors who can then work with you to put it into production.  It might take years to develop it so that it can be taken to market, however.

OK, so how does it work?  I'll pose this challenge: You describe how it works, and I'll bet that someone can easily explain why it won't work.

that car companies and oil companies squash good alternatives is a myth. If someone can invent a better alternative, there are many many people that are more than willing to get rich on it. The fact is that right now there are many people working on several alternatives like electric, Hydrogen, hybrids, biodiesels, etc. If they are really good viable alternatives, then people will buy them as long as they are affordable. If they are to expensive, or not practical they will not sell.
