Alternative Ibiza?

My fiance and I booked a trip in June to Formentera for 5 nights, and decided to do 2 nights in Ibiza so we could party a little too... only now I'm pregnant so partying is off the agenda. I still haven't booked the hotel in Ibiza, where should we go, can someone recommend where I would find the "real" Ibiza away from pissed up Brits?

  1. The drunken tourist is just one little bit of Ibiza and as long as you stay away from the 'west end' in San Antonio you will be fine.  Without knowing how much you want to spend and whether or not you intend to hire a car I cant really give names of hotels, however there are a number of areas I would suggest.

If you want really peaceful then the north of the Island is perfect - Portinax and around there.  The beaches are lovely and you are well away from the nightlife.  I would however advise hiring a car if you are going to stay in the north of the Island.

St Eulalia is a bit more lively and also family orientated there are some nice hotels and restaurants so you can still have a night out but you won't feel like you are missing out by taking it easy.

Ibiza Town and the area around there (avoiding Playa D'en Bossa as it is a bit too 18-30's) has some really nice bars and restaurants.  It also has the old town and some good shopping.  Also Ibiza town is much more cosmopolitan and not as touristy.

There are a quiet a few agro-tourism places on the Island so you could always extend your relaxing holiday whilst still taking in Ibiza.

Also as you are visiting in June, although everywhere will be open it won't be heaving like it gets in August.

Formentera is lovely, as is Ibiza so I hope you have a really good holiday

  2. Ibiza has plenty to offer besides night clubs its jagged coastline contains dozens of dreamy white sandy beaches, hidden coves and bays, villages of white-washed houses tumbling down cliff sides, and a green, hilly interior landscape decorated with fig and olive trees.
