Alternative cermony for marriage vow renewal?

We are looking for an alternative ceremony for our marriage vow renewal, we are getting married overseas and then having a ceremony for the family when we get home.

Have looked into sand ceremonies but wanted something a little more unusual.... also we wanted something quite light hearted, not too serious.

We were thinking of performing a sort of sand ceremony but with beer rather than sand.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

On offbeatbride I saw a couple make a cocktail in the ceremony. So kinda like your beer idea. She had one spirit.. he had another. Then they made the cocktail and both drank from it. You could also serve it as a signature drink through out the reception.

I don't want a sand or candle ceremony either but we're not too sure what to do. We're quite green people so we might exchange seedlings... or even plant a seed in a pot hehe. You'll probably see me post a question soon about it actually :p

Oh another thing I read about is you write a letter to your partner about why you love him/her before the ceremony. Then during the ceremony you have a box and put the letters in it along with a bottle of your fav wine and 2 glasses and nail it all shut. Then the celebrant talks about how if ever things get bumpy, before you do anything rash - open the box together and read the letters over a glass of wine. That sounds kinda cute... hmmm..
