Alright I'm going to start off with my friends tell me that hybrids and vehicles that use like wind, solar do not have the power to run where I live (mountainous areas) Is this true? Also are there any alternatives that would perform well around mountain areas.

  1. well with the mountains it depends how high or low you are if you are to have solar power cars or anything else!! but there are many diffrent kind of cars that will help the enviorment!! like there would be kars that could run on water!! 1 gallon could run for 30 min!!

but itll depend on where you live in the mountians and what part!

  2. No, it's not true.  Hybrids are just like regular gas cars, except they're more efficient at using the energy in the gasoline.  They can do anything a standard car can do.

  3. The power is puny for what U need...

  4. The "Cradle to Grave" environmental costs of the hybrid are proving to be less than impressive, particularly with regard to reprocessing of batteries and metal contamination of wastes. It is also worth pointing out that small diesels have it all over hybrids in terms of performance, driving pleasure and lower carbon emissions. Amongst the more pragmatic environmentalists, they feel that hybrids only make the drivers feel good about themselves and do very little for the environment in the long term.

  5. In the town i live in, the taxi service uses hybrids, they go into the mountains as good as any other cars.

and while electric vehicles use up more power going up hill, they still are able to do it.

  6. Depends on how high the mountains are... Gas engines loose X amount of horsepower per foot above sea level. So your hybrid with what, 4 cylinder 100 something horsepower engine would be at a disadvantage. That only depends on your elevation tho
