Question:

Alternative study techniques

I have a series of exams which I must pass very well(A grade) , and I have been sick.... so I have about two weeks to prepare from nothing. These exams are Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

I have developed a study technique... as I cannot afford to waste time with regular, inefficient techniques.

1. Read through textbook chapter several times, writing down keywords and ideas.

2. Rewrite chapter in your own words

3. Answer all questions at the end of the chapter

4. Construct a mind map of chapter

5. While you study other material, revise mind map every day and answer some questions.

6. When you have covered all material and revised the mindmaps at least 10 times each, do a practice exam.

7. Keep doing practice exams until you score the grade you want without fail.

Would anyone care to add anything... I have about two weeks to get through all this material, and, for the purpose of arguement, let's just as that I have unlimited time for those two weeks.

If anyone has used similar techniques... or has more advanced techniques they could offer.... I would be VERY greatful!

  1. Those techniques seem good but depending on how long the chapters are you may not have enough time to really write over in your own words (number 2). I suggest that you try taking notes as you read the chapter. And based on prior experences, do not concerntrate on Acing  the practice tests unless your professor has used previous test questions. Trying to perfect the practice tests, may take too much time out of your limited time frame. And you definitely want to review the previous days work to keep it active in your memory and yeah do those questions because a lot of people skip over those and teachers tend to use that same format for test questions.  Good Luck on your test!
