I really like Titleist Pro V1's but they are too expensive for my game. What, if any, ball comes close to the Pro V1's feel and play?

  1. Target sells the Precept U-Tri Tour, in the gold box.  These are a great altenative...good soft feel, great distance, and very workable.  The cover tends to scuff pretty easy though.  $22 a dozen.

  2. Dude I can bomb those lady percepts.  If you really dont want people to know you are playing them... Once you hit the green and mark - putt with a different ball.  Don't know how legal this is - but no one here is on tour.

  3. The Top Flite Strata Tour Soft is a good ball.  Cheaper than Pro V1's but with similar feel.

  4. Don't laugh at this because it is not a joke.  They did a study on just this subject a couple years ago and believe it or not the ball that came closest to the Pro V1 was the "Lady Precept"  (O'kay...go ahead and laugh, but I'ts still not a joke...) When so many guys started to buy the Precept they thought they may improve sales by making a similar ball that did not say "Lady" on it and came out with the Laddie.  But the Laddie is not quite the same ball.  A little harder feel to it, but not much.

  5. "golf digest" magazine rated 11 balls as gold in their Feb issue.

The Precept Distance IQ180, TopFlite D2 Feel, and Top-flight gamer got high marks in the balls under $20 a dozen.

  6. Unfortunately there is no substitute for Pv1's or pv1x's.  But we do know that they are solid core balls, so stick with a solid core ball instead of wound balls for starters.  I use taylormade balls that are comprable to titlest PV1's but they are also just as expensive at 40 bucks a box.  If i were looking to save money, go with titelist NXT's or their other lower end balls.  Stick with the best brand of golf balls

  7. Try the Grand Z from Titleist. You can get overruns at any golf mart for 17.99 per dozen. They have never been released in america though. Japan only. The price is right though. If you like titleist and cant afford it, try pinnacle. Long drive. Straight flight, and soft on the green. Acushnet (The company that owns Titleist) also owns pinnacle as well.

Otherwise try the Top Flite D2 Feel. It has maximum workability, with a soft feel as well. Dimple in dimple technology rocks man, and these balls fly far and spin hard.

  8. All comparable balls will be in the same price range.  I have seen Nike ONE Black, Platinum balls on sale for around $25.  I heard that the new Top-flites are awesome and they are around $20/dozen.  Check out the Golf Digest Hot List, on the balls section they have all the new hot golf balls for 2008.  http://www.golfdigest.com/equipment/rati...
