Alternative to fish?

I have been craving fish since the beginning of my pregnancy, and as much as I'd love to indulge, I have an anaphylaxis allergy to it. For those who don't know what an anaphylaxis allergy is, it pretty much means without the aid of an epipen and immediate medical attention, I would die if I ate fish or ate something that has come in contact with fish.

Of course, our idiot news station decided to do a feature on fish and chips and I haven't eaten yet. Now I really want to eat fish.

Are there any alternatives to fish that I could eat that would not cause the anaphylaxis allergy?

  2. try imitation seafood...or if you like tuna salad then you can make some but instead of tuna you could put fish, and if you put some lime and other seasonings in it, it should give it a little of a fishy flavor

  3. there are alot of vegetarian alternatives to meat, so i'm sure they have vegetarian "fish" that actually contains no fish. Just go to the local grocery store and ask where the fake/vegetarian meat is.

  4. i don't think so but this is something you need to tell your dr. because before you did not crave it and now you do it is like preg. people wanting to eat dirt. it is not a good thing some dr. say it is because your iron is low so try to eat green leafy vegs. and see if that helps. o and by the way i am not kidding about the dirt thing the first time i was preg. i loved the smell of dirt and now i am 13 1/2 weeks preg i want pancakes and i hate them!!!!!

  5. Have you ever been pregnant before? If you did, try eating the same foods as you did in that pregnancy. Try getting some of your favourite foods whether is a snack like ice cream or actual food like tacos. Just sit back and eat your favourites and you'll forget all about those nasty fish and chips.

  6. Maybe your craving means you need omega-3. Ask your Dr about a supplement or flax seed.

  9. maybe try imitation crab meat? or you can try getting used to chicken. well how severe is your allegry? =) maybe next time you pay a visit to the doctors (for a check up or ultra sound?) you could ask about that. im sure theyve had patients that have had the same problem before. =) good luck with satisfying your fish craving!
