Question:

Alternative to flip flops?

I'd really like to change out of my 2.5 inch heels after the wedding ceremony, but I'm having a hard time finding a comfortable alternative. I don't like thong flip flops because the hurt my toes. Have you seen or used any comfortable alternatives? Thanks in advance!

  1. Get some really sute flats. Like ballet shoes but there not there for normal wear. Everyone sells them now. Good luck.

  2. What about a pair of ballet flats. They even make them with ribbon to wrap around your ankle.

  3. Just some pretty strappy sandals would be great, there are all kinds of them out there right now, from flats to heels. I found two pair, one very casual, and one church suitable, both were name brands, and I found them both at Value City. Be careful though, going from 2 1/2 inch heels to flats might make your dress dust the floor, if you have  a long one.

  4. I actually understand exactly what you are talking about. I refuse to spend my wedding day in pain because of heels. This may seem unconventional but I am wearing converses instead of shoes at my wedding. Converse.com customizes the sneakers for about $70 to however you want, so I am getting my sneaks all white and Mrs. Rodriguez (my new last name) written on them in blue (my main color for the wedding). When I told my fiancee he liked the idea also so he is getting a pair in black and white with Mr.Rodriguez on his.

These are no doubt comfy and practical, you can wear it again as opposed to a pair or white shoes or ballet slippers....

    Good luck!

  5. You could get some nice flats or slide on sandals with a band over your foot instead of the thong flip-flops. They are pretty comfortable, like beachwear.

But you can get any style or formality you want; pretty much anywhere.  Try payless or JCrew.

  6. I would do a small kitten heel to dance in. It will still give you that taller elongated look but your feet won't kill you.

  7. I changed into white, cute Sketcher sneakers but they were the pretty kind w/ straps....not clunky and big.  They were perfect because 1) they were comfortable and 2) they had traction so that when we danced, I didn't have to worry about falling.  We did a fast dance for our first dance so that was definitely a consideration!  It's so common for brides to change out of their high heels that wedding shoe sites OFTEN carry nice, dyable comfortable shoes.  Just do a search for wedding shoes on the internet and you'll see what I mean.

  8. why dont you get some flats.

  9. Some flats would be nice or pretty srappy scandals or some nice wedges.

  10. I'm an MOH in August and I'll be changing from heels to ballet flats for the reception - there are lots of beautiful pairs in white and metallics. You might also consider a pair of simple white slippers as an inexpensive alternative:

  11. I bought a cute pair of red heels for my change of shoe. I would say the heels where about .5 in.

    Very Comfy.

My colors black, red & white. That's why I chose red.

  12. White ballet shoes are a great choice.

Here is a company that sells them and good luck to you and your groom!

  13. I wouldn't eliminate flip flops completely.

You can find a comfortable pair & still have some heighth so that your dress doesn't drag the floor. I wore something similar to those in the link below. They were VERY comfortable because the straps felt like a terry cloth - rather than the usual plastic feel.

  14. ballet flats are always good

  15. what about pumps. they do some really pretty ones everywhere. iv got a few pairs - try the high street shops!

  16. Oh yeah.  JELLIES!  So cute and definitely a nice alternative to flip flops.

Indoor wedding and you want to be more dressed up?  Get a slide like this one.

Rack Room has several.  So does SRI or DSW.  A simple slide that is comfortable.  If you still want a bit of a heel (but not as much as the wedding) those wedges are great.  I love my cork ones--super comfortable.

  17. ballet flats or crocs( not the hugh goofy looking ones but the more dressy style ones, thats what my wedding shoes are)

any white shoe you feel comfortable in really.  with the long dress they wont be seem much so find something you feel comfortable in, can dance in and fits your style!

  19. Don't mind the idi@ts that can't read your talking about a wedding ceremony. Just report her for bad language and just plain stupidity.....

They have really cute "ballerina" shoes you can change into....

get them in beige, or white.... they are REALLY comfy, and can't be seen under the dress, so don't worry about the looks....

    Good Luck, and congrats....
