My son is 2 1/2 and his allergist wants me to take him off all dairy products for 4 weeks and monitor him. This will not be easy. My son's a huge milk drinker. He drinks 2% milk like water and just has to have it when he gets sleepy and as soon as he wakes up. Any ideas?

  1. Non dairy powdered milk. Soy is also a great alternative, however you may need to buy vanilla favor.

  2. there is formula you can buy for older babies enfamil makes it and some store brands make it too its suppose to be better than milk

  3. Ask if you can give him "soy milk". It is not a dairy product, but tastes much like real milk.

  4. Ask your pediatrician about Goat Milk. It's a great substitute and low in allergens...also there are the Soy Milks and Rice Milk...both tasty alternatives.

  5. Soy milk, the plain soy milk takes some getting used to but the vanilla and chocolate kinds are very good.  Just don't tell him and give him it flavored.  All we drink is soy milk and i've never had a kid come over that is used to drinking cow milk, drink my chocolate soy milk and notice a difference.

  6. Goat milk is a dairy product, don't give him that.

    Hemp milk

    Oat milk

    Almond milk

These are all good choices, but Hemp milk is the most nutritious.

  7. Give him soy milk. It is dairy-free. My children are not lactose intolerant, but love the vanilla and chocolate soy milk. He may not like the plain variety though. Just give him vanilla soy milk and see if he notices or if it helps him in the same ways that dairy milk does.

  8. There is soy milk and rice milk.

  9. Goats milk (hard to find but the best), rice milk or almond milk are best. Avoid soy, it has bad side effects in little boys (e-mail me and I can expand and possibly dig up the articles).

Have you tried taking him to someone that does muscle testing, they can narrow down the allergy.

  10. Rice milk or soy milk, but stick with vanilla flavored.

The goat milk suggestion is not bad.  Lower in fat, the "fewer allergens" comment is very true, and is easier to digest than cows milk (less lactose for one, and closer chemically to human milk for two).
