Question:

Alternative to pretty light bulbs?

by  |  earlier

I like soft lighting and usually use the pink-toned light bulbs. Are there any alternatives that give similar lighting or are these alright to keep using?

Also, is a string of dim Christmas lights ok to use at night instead of lamps?

Thanks!

  1. Yeah, theater supply companies sell colored filters you can put over a bulb or inside a lamp to get any color you want.

  2. if the Christmas lights are the LED type then probably yes they use very little energy, they are making a variety of the CFL bulbs in a variety of colours so you may be able to find what you need .My feeling is use the bulbs you have now and convert to the energy savers as they burn out

  3. Christmas lights don't use a lot of energy.

    they should be fine.

at least the small bulb ones should.

i suspect that if you tried, you could find an alternative.

    however, it's a false question.

it's like asking, "is there a replacement vehicle for my hummer that gets 30 mpg, but is just as big, or should i just keep driving my hummer?"

the fact is, it's your house, and you're going to use whatever you like.

however, it's not fair to ask us to say that it's okay for you to do so.

  4. Philips make nice light bulbs....they are green too!
