Question:

Alternatives to Painting/Wallpapering?

I'm repainting my room currently and had originally planned to paint my closet (which is not walk in, but is an open area in the room without a door) but am now unable to. I still want the closet walls, which will be very visible from anywhere in the room, to have color though. Is there something that I could put up or hang on the walls that's less permanent that I could use?

  1. Why don't you try draping some fabric. That way when you need to remove it, it won't damage the wall. Here are a few pictures to help you out:

  2. I have this on my office walls now and it is beautiful.

Take liquid starch,a bucket, and a heavy or thin fabric of your choosing.

Put the fabric in the bucket of liquid starch.Get every bit wet.Wring it out,Put it on your wall, use a squeegee to make it smooth. If it tries not to stick, keep working with it a little longer and it will. The results are beautiful. And when you want to take it down, just peel it off,no marks,no color, just the same old wall you started with.Try this on a part of the wall with a fabric scrap, small.Once you get the hang of it,which is about ten minutes)let it completely dry, look at the results the next day. You'll love it.Good Luck.

  3. Well, you could use contact paper, but it probably won't look very good, so I would just paint it if you can.

  4. Try hanging curtain panels or fabric. If there are no doors and you want a splash of color you could always hang colored sheer panels across the area. There's cool hardware you can get for pretty cheap that will allow you to do it, even if it's impossible to put up a curtain rod. I think the hardware I am referring to is called "curtain wire" or "curtain cable"

There's also a curtain track that you put on the ceiling http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d...

  5. You can use fabric with fabric starch or tissue paper and watered down school glue later you can remove it with water and a plastic scraper. Good Luck!
