Are there any alternatives to having my flower girls carry baskets or kissing balls? I'm kind of untraditional when it comes to this, so feel free to go wild...lol.

  1. a candle if shes old enough to be trusted with one

  2. I remember an old tradition, can't remember where it's from though, where the children would walk down the aisle ringing bells to drive away evil spirits.

  3. here are some cute ideas:

-if she walks right before you do, have her carry a decorated sign that says "here comes the bride"

-have her wear fairy wings and carry a wand (or she can carry a satchel of glitter to sprinkle "fairy dust" down the aisle)

-if it's a beach wedding-have her carry a large conch shell filled w/flowers

-for a fall theme-have her carry a lantern w/a tealight in it (they make some w/led lights instead of real lighted candles-here is a website link-you can even use colored ones to match your wedding colors)

  5. they can carry flowers in bouquets

a basket (long) with flowers (whole not just pedals) and place then along the sides of the aisles or hand then to guests at the ends of the rows

blow bubbles on the way down or throw confetti

  6. When is your wedding?

I've seen a beach wedding where she carried a little metal pan full of shells.

Mine carried a lei wrapped around her hands.

I've also seen a little girls carry a purse, a single long stem rose, or a bunch of sticks tied together.  I've seen flower girls being pulled in a wagon and also one where they carried a teddy.  The ring bearer carried a teddy with the ring tied to it.

She could carry something metal or carry something that symbolized your something old something new.  How about feathers?  A basket of fruit.  Leaves.  A grandmother's handkerchief.

For a friends renaissance wedding the flower girl carried the goblet to the front that they both drank out of.  She carried it empty and the officiant filled it at the front.  If Jewish she could carry the glass you stomp.  She could carry the rope if you are doing a handfasting.  The broom for an African wedding.  Do you have a theme for your wedding?  Any elements of your heritage you would like to include?

  7. I have been to several weddings where the "flower" girls play many roles.

    1) She walked down the aisle with the groom's ring, ushered by the groom's ring bearer.

    2) She carried the train of the bride's dress

    3) she had a white dress similar to the bride, and she had a boquet of flowers matching that of the bride

    4) She carried battery operated candles. Some even flicker like the real ones. That would be very pretty, especially for an evening wedding or if the lighting were slightly dimmed. Maybe a ribbon bow at the base of each that matches your theme.

Thats about it. Hope this helps.

  8. My flower girl was 3 and I had her carry a white bear we made a ruffle with the same color as the bridesmaids dresses and had the bear hold a single rose. She got to keep the bear as a thank you which she loved.

    Good luck with the planning!

  9. My flower girl had a little matching bag to go with her dress, she didnt want to hold flowers so we got her a matching little bag

as she was two aswell she enjoyed holding the bag!!

    goodluck!!!

  10. How about gymnast batons? You can decorate them with ribbons.
