Alternatives to q-tips and cotton face pads?

I have swapped *all* my paper goods to reusable, cleanable products except these two things. I use the cotton pads to apply astringent to my face and for apply alcohol/peroxide to wounds. Any good, practical ideas?

  1. What are you using for toilet paper? If you have found an alternative for that, then use whatever you are using. Otherwise, maybe a handkerchief or some kind of soft, small towel. Don't know about q-tips, except try to use a wash cloth.  Good luck. Thanks for reducing your carbon footprint.

  2. Eardrops , they have them at CVS/Walqreens.

  3. Flannel or other soft cotton cloth from old shirts. if you want to take some time you could whip up some multi layered squares on the sewing machine. then they can be laundered with out fraying.

But cotton balls and pads are not paper goods. you don't have to cut down a tree to get them.

Another thing you can make to save waist is menstrual pads, you can get patterns on line. I know some people who have done this and are quite pleased.

  4. They have organic products of those you listed. I know you are thinking of reusable products, but I don't think it is sanitary to reuse them.
