I used to have a stock 90 amp alternator, but my old system fried it so i upgraded to a 130 amp alternator, and im about to get a yellow top battery... will this be enough to power the Kicker 2500.1 amp hooked to a Kicker 12" solo-x? I know i could hook a Capasitor up to it, but personaly i hate capasitors, i still may... i was gonna get a Boss 30 farad for it (if it needed it)

  1. as long as you also upgrade the wires in the charging system (4gauge) you should be good and i would get a high current car audio power cell (Kinetik makes the best ones, they are better than the yellow tops and can be mounted in more positions, here are some http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i228_... in addition to the battery that starts the car

  2. The capacitor is a waste of time and money as they don't really help much.  Your'e better off investing in a higher output alternator and good battery like stated.   I still would look to a alt that is higher than what you have as that amp will pull some juice and you still need good power for the car's original electronics.

  3. I would also recommend upgrading the alternator. Caps are the biggest waste of money in car stereo systems. Ohio Generators makes some really good HO alternators.
