Alternator help try again

i have a 85 honda i tried to find a ho alternator for it but the parts stores said their is not one for it only 86 and up. A name and a auto store gave guy number of a man who used to own a alternator shop and said he may help.he said their is some thing i could do with the ground wire from the alternator to let it run at full watt he said it could be done on the older models.and i know he is not talking about the big 3.is their something that you can do to older model cars alternator to get more watts other than the big 3.????

    they make a 170 amp alternator for 84 - 89 honda's

    part numbers 41290, 41280 , etc. you will need to match up the part # with the model of vehicle you have( ,accord , civic ,etc.)

    MSRP on most of these are around $625


  2. I don't know of anything that you could do with the ground wire. But, You could install a smaller pulley. More RPM equals more amperage.

    A better way to go would be to skip the "off the shelf" parts stores and go with custom builders. Try http://www.ohiogen.com or http://www.excessiveamperage.com
