the system is on a narrow boat with two battery banks controlled by a master switch. no 1 battery; no 1 and no 2 battery banks; no 2 battery and Off. the engine is started on no 1, switched to 1 and 2 when running to charge all battery banks and, when moored up with engine off, switched to battery 2. (this leaves no 1 battery as the engine start battery and no 2 to serve domestic requirements. the flashing light only comes on when the battery banks are fully charged. It does not seem to affect the performance but I feel that it shouldn't flash at all.

When the engine circuit is switched on the light comes on as expected. when the engine is started the light goes out - as expected. the light only starts to flash when the batteries are fully charged.

I would appreciate some explanation from someone with more expertise than myself. thanks.
