Althea Ducati Racing rider Carlos Checa aims to do his best – WSBK news
Althea Ducati Racing rider Carlos Checa aims to display his best side to the racing world.
Currently, the Spaniard has secured his sixth pole seat in the 2011 WBSK season. Checa leads the 2011 WSBK championship points’ table with a 74-point lead from Marco Melandri of the Yamaha WSBK team.
WSBK Ducati rider Carlos Checa talked to Motorcyclenews.com and said, “My target is to approach this race the same as any other. The good thing is that we do not need to change anything because from the way we work so far this year the results have been
good.”
He has shared his views on the strategy for the WSBK round taking place at Imola, Italy. It is the 11th round of the WSBK 2011 calendar. Though Checa is in strong position to claim the WBSK 2011 title, but still he needs to confirm
his claim for the championship.
Checa needs to earn 26 points from the Imola event this weekend and the races will be a tough session for every rider in the heat. He aims to stand firm with calmness and pure focus for the event.
Checa further said, “I have had people telling me 100 times a day that I will be champion, but at this moment it is not true and winning is still quite difficult. First I need to finish both races and I need to score big points so the situation is still
complicated.”
The Spaniard added that his lead is clear but he needs to continue his good run of form. The team needs to be focused in order to score great wins as Checa is also clear about the risks that could hamper his championship lead.
It will be a marvellous moment to watch when a 38-year-old Spanish rider collects his WSBK title. Checa holds 18 years of motorcycle racing experience at the world class level.
He claimed that it is a precious moment for him but for the time being, he does not want to think about it. He is calm and wants to save his emotions for the final moments when he actually stands as the world champion of the 2011 World Superbike Series.
