Althea Racing rider Carlos Checa confident after losing valuable points at Brno race day – WSBK news
Althea Racing team rider Carlos Checa is not worried about losing important points at the Spanish and Czech World Superbike Championship events.
The Spanish rider is confident to re-extend the points gap in the upcoming events. It is because he foresees much more suitable tracks in the WSBK season ahead.
Checa said, “I'm really very happy with a double podium here. In race one my start wasn't so bad but it took a few laps to pass Eugene and once past him it took some time to reach Max and Marco ahead.”
Checa further commented, “Once there I tried to keep the pace and stick with them. It was hard to find the right place to pass, I got by Max at one point but he came straight back past me. It was a great battle and to be honest I am happy with third because
this has always been a tough track for me.”
After considering everything about tracks and contenders, the Althea Racing team is confident to keep the championship’s top seat in the season. The team was hard at work throughout the whole weekend, made right decision for the tyres, and tweaked the race
setting to its best for Brno, Czech.
He commented on the race winners of the day, Marco Melandri and Max Biaggi. He also confirmed that they both were very competitive in the race. However, he was a bit displeased with his pace and regretted that he was not able to fight for the top position
in the race.
Checa was leading the championship with 72 points. However, considering the last two events, Max Biaggi has been able to cut the lead to more than half at 30 points. The Italian was capable to do that over the last two races held at Motorland Aragon and
Brno.
Although he came third in both races behind Max Biaggi and Marco Melandri, he still believes that it is an achievement to be at the last step of the podium of a tricky circuit.
