Although it's not true, if it were, what's wrong with Palin's firing of a state trooper?

Even if it is true, which she denies, I could careless. h**l I hope it is.

Let's see... The trooper abuses his wife, tasered his minor step child, and is a all around asshat. Is that the kind up people we want upholding the law, when they don't even follow it themselves?

He has been married and divorced 4 times, already a sign of failure in treating a women with respect and love.

"The record clearly indicates a serious and concentrated pattern of unacceptable and at times, illegal activity occurring over a lengthy period, which establishes a course of conduct totally at odds with the ethics of our profession," Col. Julia Grimes, then head of Alaska State Troopers, wrote in March 1, 2006, letter suspending Wooten for 10 days.

Troopers eventually investigated 13 issues and found four in which Wooten violated policy or broke the law or both:

• Wooten used a Taser on his stepson.

• He illegally shot a moose.

• He drank beer in his patrol car on one occasion.

• He told others his father-in-law would "eat a f'ing lead bullet" if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce.

  1. So you don't believe Palin should have taken the same legal measures taken by other citizens in these situations?  How elitist.

Re: additional details: no - you believe she should use her power as Governor to fire somebody who won't use their power to fire somebody.  There is a procedure by which any other citizen would proceed, but you believe the Governor should just get to man-handle her way through the situation without normal agency procedures applying.  That, my dear sir, is an abuse of power, and rather elitist...  This was a personal, family matter.

Additionally, it shows an appalling lack of appreciation of how the action would be viewed by the public.  And THAT is rather telling on her judgment and ability to perform a public office.

    RE: more additional details

There was, I believe, an internal investigation and disciplinary action.  That's what happens with every trooper who isn't married into the Governor's family: why should it be different in his case?  Has she taken a personal interest in disciplinary proceedings taken against any other state trooper in Alaskan history?

I did read the article, and am amazed that you think it wasn't a family issue.  Why are you so quick to defend nepotism and favor in Neo-Cons?

  2. VERY WELL SAID GLENDA B

  3. My recollection was that she let the State Safety Commissioner go when he would not fire the State Trooper who was her brother-in-law going through a messy divorce.

  4. Do you have any idea whatsoever what kind of people are in law enforcement in general? The "abominations" you've listed are a Day in the Life of Joe Law Enforcement.

I guess you missed the recent articles about the LAW bloodying and beating and kneeing the REPORTERS AND JOURNALISTS at the RNC convention.

The issue isn't about the d**n trooper.

The ISSUE is Palin's abuse of power. Is Palin going to pursure ALL the troopers in her state who have committed similar atrocities? Is Palin re-writing the job descriptions, experience, education requirements for troopers to ensure this horrible behavior does not surface again? Is Palin involved hands-on to follow the proper chain-of-command?

Methinks you should research the issue a little more.

OH? That's "not the kind of officer we hire?" Well la-dee-da for you. Do you live in Mayberry?

Sorry, pal. I just don't believe you. In my city, the ex-Sheriff has been on trial for several years - he's looking at a potential 170 years jail time.

And in MY hometown, the two biggest drug dealers in the county were on the police force.

And let us not forget the absolutely UNNECESSARY and CRIMINAL deaths over the past five years or so which were a direct result of SADISTS TASERING AMERICAN CITIZENS.

What happened at the RNC convention to those REPORTERS is clear evidence of what George W. Bush has done to this country.

And getting back to Palin - like I said, if she hasn't taken on "corruption of state troopers" as her cause, and tried to solve the heinous behavior of all the offenders - then she's just simply abusing her power for personal reasons,.

THE LAST THING WE NEED IN WASHINGTON.

  5. Nothing is wrong with her. In fact everything is right and McCain did a good job asking her to be the VP for his party. I'm an independent and suddenly the race has gotten very interesting. I would take her over Obama any day. Obama is very scary. And now the other side suddenly have family values, saying she a mother and has responsibilities at home. These people on the Dem. side cannot make up their minds. What a contridiction they are. They are attacking her because they are scared of the race right now. And I think she had every right wanting to fire her brother-in-law we all don't know the whole story but from what I know about the tazer of her nephew and the threat to kill her father, I wouldn't blame her. Like I said we don't know the whole story and I bet there is more scary things he did also. Another excuse so she won't run. She's has as much qialifications as Obama even more because he was a non-participant when he was in the senate. And he's up for president not Vice president. God bless you.

  6. This women has a long line of scandals. She admitted to the troopergate one but as it seems now she is denying it.  I am not sure what Dairygate is but that is the name of one which someone gave me so much info. about I have yet to read it all but is was an answer to one of my questions....I know she has repeatedly misused her power. When she was mayor of Wassilla she was firing people for for not supporting her campaign for mayor. This is insane. She faced a recall so she reinstated the Library Director & paid an out of court settlement to  the Police Cheif. Why can't the republicans find decent people. There is something else that just came to my mind about her husband's friends ex-wife dated someone who she also got fired. These people are so corrupt. Do some research.

  7. OMG He illegally shot a moose?  He should get life!

    LOL!

  8. Nothing. Even the troopers are at will employees. the governor of the state can fire them for any reason. But liberals still tend to believe in lifetime entitlements, which also includes their employment, regardless of the level of misconduct

  9. The personnel investigation began in April 2005 , long before Palin became governor and months before her October 2005 announcement that she was running.

The investigation into Wooten wrapped up in March 2006 , before she was elected.

Troopers found four instances in which Wooten violated policy, broke the law, or both.
