I think this would greatly improve the lakers because it will open up the floor big time and allow kobe and bynum to dominate the inside and dirk will dominate whatever shots hes given wether short range or long range...

Pau will be better as a power foward this year but i still think dirk is better than pau walton... though walton is saying hes gona make a come back next season... well see...

This would guarantee a dynasty... Kobe Bynum Nowitzki Odom

I seriously doubt the Mavericks would give up dirk... but that would be a pretty sweet deal.

I'm a Lakers fan and this would be a dream come true if this happens. But, I seriously doubt the Mavs would give up Dirk just like that. He is their franchise player. Perhaps the best Dallas Maverick player. An offer of Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom will seriously make the Mavs look at the possibility more but that would then give disadvantage to our team -- the Los Angeles Lakers.

I like the way you think. Though this would never happen in a million years, 1. Because Dirk is the face of the franchise and Pau is even uglier than him, 2. Mark Cuban passed up trading Dirk to LA for Shaq a few years ago, no way he would do it for Pau and Luke Walton. Maybe if we threw in Jordan Farmar and a few 1st round picks. But Kobe, Bynum, Nowitzki, Odom sounds to me like the greatest team of all time. 73 win season.

The Lakers are better off without that trade- defense is what they need and Pau is a decent defender but Dirk is terrible at the defensive end.  Pau is better playing in the paint and scoring putbacks when Kobe's shots don't fall. Dirk needs plays designed for him to get open looks.

I don't think this would be a great trade for either team. Kobe and Pau just got to the stage where they are starting to work well together. So now you're going to send Pau away and bring in another big star. I don't think Kobe and Dirk would be working well as teammates by the time the season started. Plus, why would the Mavs give up Dirk for Walton and Gasol? Dirk is still in his prime.

No matter who was offered. Cuban would never trade Dirk. He is in love with the guy. If Howard keeps getting arrested, you might have something there.

Any of the top teams in the west are a guaranteed dynasty if they could add another star player.

Put Elton Brand in Phoenix alongside Stoudemire and Shaq and Nash running the show, that front line would dominate all the way to the finals.

Put KG in San Antonio alongside Duncan & Bowen, talk about defense!  Oh yeah with Tony Parker and Manu- another championship easy.

If the Lakers are so perfect " as are" ( what a way to talk!), how come they got such a bit*h slappin' from the Celtics?  And you can't add Dirk to the Lakers without upsetting the Kobe ego cart, unlike Gasol, Bynum, Odom, etc..... Dirk really is a star, and Kobe ain't sharing the stage with him. Your forgetting Kobe's #1 rule, 'it shall all be about Kobe" Also, i seem to remember all the Lakers fans coming down on the Celtics for ' trading their way to a title". Ahem, that seems to be all I see and hear from Laker fans these days, is how they need to trade this one or that one to get Kobe more help. I thought Kobe didn't need any help? He's supposed to be the greatest giant head that ever dribbled a basketball, remember? But, from a world champions CELTICS FAN, I think that's a great trade, as it gives the Lakers as yet one more player who doesn't know the meaning of defense!

If The Trade Happen Then The Lakers Wouldn't have There Post Up Guy, When it Comes Too Trades Everyone Needs too Get What They Want, Now This Trade i Bet Would Not Happen, But If It Did,  Then They Would Be Shooting More, And Maybe Miss More Since Kobe Wanted Gasol Not Dirk Gasol,
