Alton Towers, is it worth it?

I have a two for one ticket and plan on going Alton Towers next Thursday. I heard that it will be a nightmare because all the schools are closed and that queue times can reach 2 hours long. On some forums i heard that you only get to go on 3 decent rides! I've been Alton Towers before and loved it because it was practically empty. So I was just wondering even with a half price ticket would it still be worth going or would i be wasting my money?

i had them , i went 1st of july - it was a school day and all the ques was mega long anyway still on a school day, you cant win .. some ques wasent so long and u was only waitin in them like 20mins in que for rapids .. and the oblivion (expected) i was in the que for atleast a hour waitin but trust me it was well worth it.

its a ****** gettin from one side of the park to the other seen as we lost out on 2-3 big rides but make sure you get a day of it ! i got on atleast 3 decent rides and thats it. i'd never been before though so i didnt know where everything was. its well worth it seen as you've got it half price.

Its still worth going but it is h**l when you have to queue up, especially when its really hot and clammy weather. I went a few summers ago and got on the log ride and Air, so if you beat my record of 2 rides then you've done well.
