Question:

Aluminium grade 1050, which is suitable for pressing, 3mm thick. How quickly will 'pitting' occour?

Also, is their a better grade that is not significantly more expensive where pitting would not happen at all?

How long would you expect a piece of 3mm Aluminium to last before failing in seaside enviroment (if pitting occours with 1050)?

Well, 1050 is essentially a "pure" (99.50 %) aluminum with no alloying materials, which is not so good (starts corroding almost immediately)...Your best bet is a 5052-H34 aluminum which has about the highest degree of corrosion resistance and then have the finished part anodized if practical, or at least alodined, primed and painted...
