  1. Well most of the Aluminium recycling comes from old beer and beverage cans.  I can weighs about 15 grams and the metal rate is about 2.5$/KG.  A can has got paint on it and a coating inside so the drinks don't react so its got to be stripped of them before it becomes a pure metal.  Also Al is not a rare metal but its difficult to isolate.

    i.e not much

  2. aluminum recycling isn't worth trying to make money out of it if your just an average person with some aluminum cans lying around the house so if i was you i wouldnt bother.

  3. HI...WE RECYCLE CANS HERE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA...WE MOSTLY WAIT TIL SUMMER IS OVER AS THE PRICES WILL BE A LITTLE BETTER DUE TO THE PICNICS, PARTIES, ETC. ARE OVER FOR THE SUMMER (THE PRICES ARE A LITTLE HIGHER IN THE FALL OR WINTER)...WE USUALLY RECEIVE  .50 TO .60 CENTS A POUND!!

  4. Last week I took two large bags of cans to a recyclng center in California and at $2.04/lb, I received $40, so for me it was worth the trip to the center...

  5. Cans are worth 80 cents here in Mississippi.  And 85 cents for just the tabs.  In Mississippi

  6. 25 cents a pound.

  7. Environmentally, aluminum cans are worth quite a bit because they are made with bauxite which is a finite resource.  It is mined in Australia and several other locations around the world.   Aluminum can be recycled over and over again and that cuts down on mining costs, damage to the environment from mining, water used for production, etc.   So, figuring all that the cost of one aluminum can is about $4.00.  Recycled 100 times: $.04.   What are they worth? Priceless.

  8. a decent size bail bag full is worth about $40 there is just no money in cans that'ss probably why so manysenselesss people just ditch them and why they are al through our water ways if cans were worth more people may just think twice about ditching them out the window

  9. Not worth the money if you have an income, but please save the cans for others.

Rather than put them in with my regular recycling, I save them in a decent garbage bag for others not as fortunate.

Many folks walk down my street on garbage day hunting for cans. I'll save up a few weeks of cans and give them to one of the nice elderly folks trying to make a few extra bucks to get by.

It also stops some rude folks from going through my regular recycling and making a mess.
