Question:

Aluminum can recycling?

I recently heard this woman say that she doesn't bother recycling the can...only the pop-tops. Does that make sense?

Perhaps you know of others who do this.

  1. hey....she should definitely recycle the can....Help saving the Earth, please!!!

  2. there is a way to turn the pop-tops in for charity... but i dont know how...

  3. I've driven 2 mi or so left on Garner Road (From Tryon-turn at Burger King on 401) and the metal recycling place takes pop-tops, cans, old batteries and, as I found out, $1.10 for an old metal kitchen chair.  With gas at over $3.00 a gal., keep and cash in the pop-tops and the cans.

  4. The pop top thing is an urban legend come to life.  Some idiot started a rumor that you could buy dialasis time or something with pop tops and people believed it and started donating them to charities.  These charities had no idea what to do with them.  They only get scrap metal value for them.

  5. they have a charity thing for the pop tops.

or maybe she makes them into stuff

or maybe shes just crazy (:

  6. People/charities collect pop tops because they are smaller and easier to store and carry. Not recycling the can itself is wasteful as most of the aluminum is in the can.

Do the right thing and recycle the whole thing. It may be bulkier but you get more $$$ and save LOTS more energy.

  7. it doesn't.  she has to put the cans somewhere else after she takes off the top.  so might as well put the entire thing in one place.

  8. A lot of fund raisers "collect" pop tops and turn them in somewhere for cash, is more of a token thing than recycling.

  9. Well you can recycle "pop-tops" but it would make more sense if she recyled the cans aswell
