Alvaro Bautista confirms his 2012 season with San Carlo Honda Gresini team – MotoGP news
The Spanish MotoGP rider, Alvaro Bautista has signed a contract with San Carlo Honda Gresini team for the 2012 premier class season.
After the death of Honda Gresini’s Marco Simoncelli, the team was left with an empty space.
The progress of Bautista during the 2011 season earned him the seat at the Italian-based MotoGP team. Team owner Fausto Gresini was content to sign Bautista for the 2012 season.
Bautista has spent two seasons with the Rizla Suzuki team. He joined the Japanese factory team in 2010 as a teammate to Loris Capirossi.
He was able to progress during the season and was left as a sole Suzuki factory rider in 2011 MotoGP season. Bautista managed to progress a lot during 2011.
The Rizla Suzuki team was also displeased to discontinue relations with Bautista. The team had a great experience with the Spanish rider through past two seasons.
Bautista said, “I am very sad to be leaving Suzuki after the two great years that I have had here. It has been a great team to work in and I have learnt a lot of things from everyone in the team. It was a fantastic experience working with an English/Japanese
team.”
The Spanish rider expressed his sadness on departing from Suzuki team. He added that it was a great environment for work and no one had any issues. It was like a big working family.
The Spaniard added, “I want to thank everybody personally for the last two years, sometimes it has been difficult, but nobody ever gave up and I felt like I always had their full support and commitment. I don’t feel like I am leaving a team, but a group
of friends that I hope I will know for a long time.”
Bautista paid his thanks to the team officials and especially team manager Paul Denning. He also wished the team a great future in the upcoming seasons in MotoGP.
Though he crashed in the season finale event held at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, Valencia but he still managed to finish the season in 13th position. He also had to face a fractured femur at the season start.
