Alvaro Bautista makes way to the first podium of his MotoGP career at Misano – MotoGP news
Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini makes his way to the third place on the rostrum at the Italian Grand Prix.
The Honda Gresini rider had early declared the Italian GP as a race full of emotions.
The delighted rider said that finishing on the podium always feels great but he is enjoying the feeling more as it is the first podium of his MotoGP career and moreover the circuit is named after Marco Simoncelli, the Italian rider. Simoncelli died due to
an accident on October 23, 2011.
Bautista said, “It is always nice to finish on the podium but especially for me today with this being my first in MotoGP. Above all this is a very special weekend for me and the team because our memories of Marco are so strong coming here to the circuit
named in his honour.”
They were not satisfied with their performance at the Czech Republic Grand Prix but they feel contented after the race at their home circuit. The race at the Italian circuit leaves Bautista emotional as he believes that he could feel the hand of Simoncelli
over his shoulder and it seemed to him as if he was being pushed by the late rider.
The Honda Gresini rider dedicated his special podium to his admirers who supported him over the weekend in Italy. He told that he was about to crash in the start of the race but managed to gain the control of his bike.
“It has been an extraordinary day and I almost crashed at the start – I picked myself up on my right elbow. I am happy for everybody who has believed in me and I want to dedicate this very special podium also to them,” he said.
Bautista currently stands at the 7th position in the championship two points behind Valentino Rossi of Ducati. He attains 118 championship points. The Italian rider started his MotoGP career in 2010 with Suzuki. In the current 2012 season, he joined San
Carlo Honda Gresini and finally attained the first podium of his MotoGP career.
