Alvaro Bautista of Rizla Suzuki returns home for upcoming British Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Rizla Suzuki rider Alvaro Bautista and his team arrived at Silverstone for their home event, the Air Asia British Grand Prix set to take place on June 12, 2011.
The Spaniard was performing well at the practice session for the Barcelona Grand Prix. He started within the top ten for last Sunday’s race but dropped to 12th position just ahead of LCR Honda rider, Toni Elias.
Bautista said, “I am really looking forward to the weekend at Silverstone, we need to get back to work and continue with what we did in the practice sessions last weekend. We did very well in those - and in the wet practice - but the race just didn’t go
to plan.”
Bautista got his left femur fractured during a practice run for the Qatar Grand Prix at the Losail circuit. The Spaniard was forced to miss season’s first two rounds in Qatar and Spain as a result. His comeback at the Portuguese GP resulted in a 13th
place finish for him.
Bautista is more relaxed and confident than his last event at Barcelona. At Silverstone, he will be looking for a finish within the top ten, which will be his first of the 2011 season.
The Spaniard commented about the upcoming home event and said, “I am more relaxed now than I was on Sunday and fully focused on the job ahead of us. I know Silverstone is going to be hard work both on and off the track, but I’m ready for it and plan to get
a good result for the whole team at its home Grand Prix.”
In the 2010 British GP, he was 15th to qualify for the race and finished in 12th place ahead of former Pramac Racing team rider, Mika Kallio.
At the upcoming event, Bautista will be hoping for a better finish in order to improve on his 16th position in the world championships. Let’s see if he can manage that when the action from Silverstone begins Friday, June 10, 2011 with the practice
sessions.
