Alvaro Bautista says they need to resolve front end issues of their bike – MotoGP news
Alvaro Bautista of San Carlo Honda Gresini finished at the 6th position after a challenging practice session at Aragon circuit.
He believes that he could have achieved a better position if he had more competitive bike and anticipates that his team will find some solution to the front end issues of his bike.
The Spanish rider could only make it to the sixth position despite trying in the early half of the race. He told that his bike was not competitive enough that he could have fought for the top positions in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Bautista said, “Considering how practice went sixth place is a positive result. Obviously I'm not particularly happy with it because I think we can do much better and be fighting for results like Misano but that was always going to be difficult today.”
He added that he tried his best to make it to the top positions, during the race but his bike was facing issues with its front end therefore he preferred to make it to the finish line safely. He told that they have successfully been able to tackle the situation
at Aragon but they would need to resolve the front end issue to make their bike more competitive. Besides, he anticipates that his team will find some solution soon.
“I tried my best to chase the second group but it wasn't possible and I was having to take too many risks so in the end I decided to play it safe and bring the bike home for as many points as possible,” he added.
Bautista exhibited an impressive performance at his home circuit during the race as he started the race at the 12 gird. He was able to attain the first podium of his career in the last Italian Grand Prix by finished at the 3rd position.
Bautista had told prior to the race that he wants to try for another podium but they would have to work very hard to find appropriate settings for the challenging layout of Aragon. The first day at the Aragon circuit was ruined due to the wet circuit and
oil spillage on the circuit. Let’s see how the Spaniard performs at the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix scheduled on October 14, 2012.
