Men’s Doubles partners Alvent Yulianto Chandra and Markis Kido of Indonesia forged a fruitful chemistry in the opening round of SCG Thailand Open and gained access to pre quarter-finals on June 6, 2013.
The Indonesian team locked horns with the Taipei duo Jui Wei Liang-Kuan Hao Liao and this tussle prolonged to 34 minutes in local badminton complex of Bangkok, Thailand. Both pairs challenged each other through out three gruelling sets and concluded this
match with 21-14, 15-21 and 21-15 score.
The twosome of Alvent and Markis prevailed in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the opposing team could rise only in the second set.
In first set of the match, Alvent and Markis launched an intensive attack and claimed many valuable points in a row. They made best out of this flow and doubled their total in no time. This initial advantage helped them to finish first half of the set with
a respectable total of 11.
After the mid-game break, the Indonesian shuttlers injected more intensity in their attack and confined their rivals in the rear court. They swept the table with an impressive figure of 21-14.
However, their supremacy was really short lived as the Taipei duo performed exceptionally well in the following game and brought the contest to right balance. This time the twosome of Jui Wei and Kuan Hao did not repeat previous mistakes and established
a decent lead straight away in the beginning.
They maintained that upper hand all the way to half time and placed an unassailable total. They relished full benefits of this convincing lead and won this crucial set with 21-15 score.
The decider turned consequential after this development and both contenders put all they had to claim the final match point. Though, neither of them could establish a permanent lead till the half time but Alvent-Markis struck hard after the mid-game break
and tipped they scale in their favour.
They did not lose grip till the final moments and registered a commendable victory with 21-15 margin. Now they will lock horns with Kah Ming Chooi-Yao Han Ow in pre quarter-finals of Thailand Open.
