Alvent Yulianto Chandra, Markis Kido surge into pre quarter-finals – China Open Update
Indonesia’s seasoned campaigners Alvent Yulianto Chandra and Markis Kido employed all of their experience and brilliance in the Men’s Doubles game and cleared first round of Li Ning China Open on November 14, 2012.
They unseated Manu Attri-Sumeeth Reddy B. of India to claim a seat in the pre quarter-final round of this Super Series.
This hard fought encounter was staged at Shanghai and both contenders remained head-to-head for 33 minutes before ending this match with 21-17, 13-21 and 21-11 score.
The victorious duo prevailed in the opening and ending games whereas the spirited Indian pair could live its moment of glory only in the second set.
Alvent Yulianto and Markis Kido started the ball rolling straight away in the beginning of first set and bagged this vital match point on merit.
They played cautiously in the establishing rallies and remained equal until 7-7 but then few back-to-back points took them to a respectable score position of 11.
The Indonesian campaigners played with great control in later part of the game and did not give their rivals even a single chance to comeback.
At first, they widened the gap with 17-13 and then maintained this four-point difference until the concluding margin of 21-17.
Next game changed the scenario as the lower ranked but talented Indian duo showed a transformed character and claimed this crucial match point.
This time Manu and Sumeeth did not repeat previous mistakes and made amends with a fine display of badminton skills.
They started the beating after 4-4 and established an indomitable lead with 11-6 score before the interval.
After one-minute break, they played with similar conviction and finished this crucial set in a favourable manner.
On the other hand, Alvent Yulianto and Markis Kido strived hard to counter-balance the situation but they surrendered after reading 13-21 margin.
The decider subjected both teams to a tough trial as they were standing equal with one win each. They made every effort to oust the opponent but finally the twosome of Alvent Yulianto-Markis Kido emerged as victor.
They placed a winning figure of 21-11 and qualified for the second round where they will face Biao Chai-Nan Zhang of China.
