Alvin Gentry wants to change Phoenix Suns starting line-up to shake things up – NBA News
The Phoenix Suns have not had the best of starts to the NBA season, going 4-7 in their first 11 games. The Suns lost Steve Nash at the end of the last season and it appeared as if the road back to success was going to be a long
one, and them would undergo a long rebuilding programme. However, the Suns picked up Luis Scola and Goran Dragic after they were turned down by the Houston Rockets, and also added Michael Beasley. With Shannon Brown and Markieff Morris already in the roster,
the Suns were looking like a team capable of contending for a playoff spot.
However, the Suns have not played well to open the season, which has their Head Coach, Alvin Gentry, thinking about what to do next to shake things up a bit. In particular, the Suns have been rusty and out of rhythm to start games
and in many of the 11 games played so far, have had to climb back from double digit deficits because of poor starts to the game. In their Saturday night loss to the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade sat out of the game and LeBron James played through illness, still
the Suns were blown away convincingly. They were unable to score for the first 4:14 of the game, starting with a 0-9 deficit to climb out of. With starts like that, the tempo of the game has one chasing after the opponent throughout the rest of the game, using
up a great deal of energy and not being able to be aggressive. And Gentry has had enough of it, and has recently said that he is going to make a few changes in the team line-up in order to improve the way the team starts games.
“We got to stop having the starts we’re having and the only way we can deal with that is that we are going to have to change the line-ups. So the next game we play it won’t be the same line-up that you’ve seen. I haven’t decided
exactly what I am going to do there, but we’ll do something. We’ll do something,” said Gentry as reported by SBNation Arizona.
Gentry has a few options open for him, with Morris and Shannon Brown both having the skills and capabilities to be upgraded to the starting line-up. Although Luis Scola, Michael Beasley and Goran Dragic are all set at their position,
Gentry can make any change that he thinks will benefit the team and get them going.
