http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Petersen-c1028 delighted to be back in South Africa’s Test team – Cricket News Update
South Africa have dropped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AG-Prince-c949 and recalled Alviro Petersen for the final Test of the three match series against Sri Lanka, starting from Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at the Newlands, Cape Town in South Africa.
Prince has been out of form for a very long time, but the selectors gave him quite a lot of opportunities because the team was mostly winning.
However, the Proteas have had a mixed couple of years in Test cricket and their loss to Sri Lanka in Durban forced the selectors to make a change for the series decider.
With the comeback of Petersen, it is likely that he will open the innings and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacques-Rudolph-c1619 will be dropped down in the middle-order. The latter has been struggling to perform at the top of the order and might find batting a touch easier at number five
or six.
However, it is still undecided whether what will be the batting order for South Africa in the final Test.
Petersen claimed that he could bat at any number for his side. He added, “I'm just so happy to be back in the side that I don't care where I bat. I'll bat anywhere from one to 11 – as long as I play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.”
The stylish right-handed player further stated, “"It's not nice getting dropped, but instead of being miserable, I just focussed my mind on one game at a time for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808. I focussed on each ball in each session and the way I approached it really helped
me a lot, but now I'm back in the squad, so I'm happy.”
It has been more than three years now that South Africa have not won a Test series at home. They had a golden opportunity to do so against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540.
However, things did not work out well for the hosts, as they were beaten comprehensively by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TM-Dilshan-c2691 and his men by 208 runs. This victory helped the visitors level the series at 1-1.
The series will now be decided in Cape Town, where the Proteas have enjoyed a lot of success recently.
