South African opener Alviro Petersen’s participation in the remainder of the ongoing Test match against England at Headingley has been cast into doubt after the 31-year-old suffered a right hamstring injury on the second day of the match.
Petersen underwent scans in the afternoon of the second day, and the results are due by Saturday. The right-hander is suspected of having suffered a grade one tear, from which he would require up to ten days to recover.
The hamstring tear marks his second fitness complaint during the tour, the first having occurred when he injured the joints in his left foot during a jog, rendering him incapable of playing the tour match against Somerset, although he managed to recover
