Alyssa Anderson wins Women’s 800m freestyle gold – 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational, Arizona
Alyssa J Anderson of Arizona-AZ won gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle at the 2012 Southwest Classic Invitational in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday, May 5.
The 21-year-old Anderson met expectations of her supporters by clinching gold medal of the 800m discipline in a wonderful manner. She faced no trouble in outsmarting her challengers over the finishing end and tapped the wall for the title of the event.
Anderson gained a prominent lead over her challengers from the start of the event and sprinted her way towards the finishing end for gold medal by posting a time of 9 minutes and 03.60 seconds.
Her title claiming effort was trailed by Leone Vorster of Ford Aquatics-AZ, who remained nearly two body lengths behind and tapped the wall for silver medal by producing a time of 9 minutes and 06.93 seconds.
Vorster was followed by Shannon N Landgrebe of ASU-AZ, who suffered a loss of nearly twenty-one seconds and emerged on the finishing blockade for bronze medal with an effort of 9 minutes and 27.75 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Vorster’s team-member, Brianna H Leverenz, who remained almost five seconds apart and finished her swim in fourth best place by producing a time of 9 minutes and 32.06 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth best spot of the race was secured by Landgrebe’s teammate, Jordan L Iverson, who stayed 3.53 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and completed her swim in a time of 9 minutes and 35.59 seconds.
The 20-year-old Iverson was followed by Chloe D Isleta of Santa Clara-PC, who remained about 2.50 seconds away from her former finisher and clocked an effort of 9 minutes and 38.10 seconds for sixth position.
Isleta remained comfortably ahead of Natalie C Ward, who secured seventh position of the event by reporting a time of 9 minutes and 42.01 seconds.
Eighth position of the event was obtained by Kelsey Thomas of Gmsc-AZ, who hit the wall with the timing of 9 minutes and 47.49 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship ended after the completion of all listed events while the position holders were awarded medals after the session.
