Over the past few weeks it's started to get worse but now it's unbearable. There is no rash, only red marks from where i've been scratching so much.

Is this related to my pregnancy.

Im expecting twins.

It's all over my body, and i have to wear really light clothes, and find it difficult to sleep as the sheets irritatae my skin.

Any ideas?

  1. The itching may or may not be from, your belly stretching.  Since you mentioned that it's all over your body, it could be other skin irritations.  I realize you don't have a rash, but here's a website I found that you can check out if you wish:  http://www.parentingweekly.com/pregnancy...

    Best Wishes

  2. The itching is your skin stretching! Go to the store and get some cocoa butter lotion. Run this all over your bottom, hips, thighs, belly, and top about three times a day! You will probably be getting stretch marks soon, and the more you scratch the more will appear! Good luck.

  3. i used coco butter . but it can be from ur skin stretching and that causes it to dry out and itch . i had stretch marks and they itched alot

  4. No - the itching is not because your skin is stretching.

I know someone who's pregnant and she went to the doctor for the same thing - severe itching - she said she's wake up in the middle of the night scratching her face because it was so bad.

The doctor told her this was more common with people who are having twins... (you!) and so they're watching her very closely now (She isn't having twins though) --- they are giving her weekly ultrasounds... apparently it's something to do with your liver.

I'm not trying to scare you - just letting you know people on here may tell you it's stretching - but it isn't in your case (I don't think)...

Go to your doctor -- and let them know forsure!!!!!!!

  5. totally normal...happened to me,  especially the bigger the baby since its caused by your stomache stretching. cocoa butter!!! congrats =]

  6. I am 28 weeks and have the same problems. I was on the chubby side when i got pregnant so my skin was already stretching. What ever you do don't scratch it. Try putting lotion on it as much as you can. I also would get this cooling jelly moisturizer from Avon. I bought it and it works like a charm. Good luck!

  7. The itching is because your skin is stretching. If you're not doing so now, start using cocoa butter, maybe it will help relieve the itching.

  8. I know EXACTLY how you feel!  It's just because we are now in our third trimester and the REAL skin stretching is happening in our belly now.

Just over the past week, my itching has become much worse.  I put oil and creams on my belly at least twice a day, and it still itches like crazy!  I find the more cream I put on, it does help with the itching so I think all you can really do is try to keep it moisturized as much as possible.

And I know it's hard but try not to scratch... I find it only makes it worse and if you are in the process of getting stretch marks, it will only make THOSE worse too.

I find oil helps the best with alot with the itching (Bio Oil or even Baby Oil).

    Congrats and Good Luck~

  9. Yes, the stretching of your skin during pregnancy takes a lot of the moisture out of your skin, thus causing itchiness.

Try using a moisturizing soap, and if that continues to irritate your skin, don't soap your belly, just rinse with water.

Otherwise try rubbing cocoa butter lotion on your belly to keep moisture in there. Do this twice a day and you should soon feel an improvement.

  10. I found tubs of pure shea butter which retail for like 40$ for around 4$, plus 3$ of shipping, it's pure from Ghana and works great, most cocoa butters are not pure in the store and contain mineral oil and petroleum jelly

  11. I found that the cocoa butter didn't work for me. I started using arnica.. It's a plant extract that has great skin repairs. It works wonders. I am 38wks preg and my belly is beyond big with stretch marks everywhere but the arnica really soothes the itching and they aren't so deep in texture anymore.. Use it after the birth as well...

  12. its from your skin stretching. load up on lotion. i use the new curel they came out with for pregnancy. it works wonders and helps prevent stretch marks

  13. Neutrogena Sesame Oil ALL OVER after you get out of the shower & are still a little damp. Works WONDERS!!!

  14. don't scracth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i did and my strech marks really started to shouw and they stayed gross! I put aveeno lotion on mine it took it away quick! Stay very mostierized so it will not be itchy and the strech marks will not show up or get worse!

  15. most important of all.. do not scratch! it will itch even harder and you will scratch more. apply a moisturizing cream to relax the stretched skin and sleep in/ware only cotton clothing.

  16. Lotions are helpful at relieving topical irritations but itching is irritation of the nerve endings.  You may need an antihistamine that has been approved for pregnancy.  Check with your pharmacist ( they know much more about medications that a physician) and if you need a prescribed medication, then you will need to see your physician.

    Good luck with the babies.

  17. Try a product called "My Mother's Friend".  It used to be shelved behind the pharmacy counter.  It comes in a blue bottle for around $8-$9. Ask the pharmacy, they might be able to order it for you, or recommend something that works even better.

  18. totally normal, use a stretch mark oil and vitamin e...try not to scratch, it tends to make the stretch marks worse.

  19. It's common for your belly to itch because your skin is stretching.

Lotion helps a lot. And don't take really hot showers because it dries your skin out.
