Am I Being Rude or Direct?

Question

Having close relationship as friend, partner, colleague, do we have to address each other formally? such as pls, can you, thank you, etc every question, conversation or every manner?

Can't v just say Hi, wats up, Oiii, wei... etc. That what i always does with someone i feel close. i don't like to treat a person relations in a formal manner regardless of private or work.

I guess I am not doing it right... aiiiiiii Just being told off for this manner... aiiii

It is always good business practice to say hello, please, thank you, can you do this or will you do that . Much nicer put in that manner than do it dude or ur gonna p**s me off.

Always keep in mind you are in business, and at the work place act in a business manner. If outside the workplace and you both feel comfortable enough to say Hi whats up, then go for it.

The rules and treatment of others at a work place are should always be respectful.

It depends on how the other party feels. Some of us wants to be more informal whereas the rest still want to be more formal. So it depends on individual

I think it depends on the closeness of your relationship with the person and the type of personality that person is. Some people are fine with being referred to indirectly even if they're not particularly close to the person while others might get offended if they're referred to by a close personal name by a non-close person.

If it comes to bosses, you definitely should start out being respectful at least. If, after some time, you become friends with your boss and/or you notice that your boss doesn't mind being informal sometimes, then go with that. Just make sure you recognize when the right times are that you can refer to that person informally and when you know you have to go by more formal names and titles.

I tend to stick with keep it professional at work. Then make fun of the professionalism on your off time. Customers may not get that you are close outside of work and can be turned off by the casualness of it all.
