1 moment I will be talkative and feel happy and confident but the next I feel depressed and get really quite. Like today At school in 6th period I felt happy and confident and was gonna go to a football game. But as soon as I got in the car I lost all my confidence and went home and slept and didn't go to the game. Sometimes I will be in a good mood and full of energy then someone will do a tiny thing that aggravates me and I will get in a bad mood and get really quite. Also my mom is partially bipolar and she takes anti-depressants.

  1. Possibly.  See your doctor

  2. First bipolar is episodes of severe depression and mania that last weeks, months, even years......do not shift rapidly like back and forth within a day.

Second, bipolar on just anti depressants is BAD.  even milder bipolar on antidepressants would trigger mania.  Also wondering what you mean by partially bipolar.

  3. If your mom is bipolar theres a good chance that you are

  4. No, I don't think your bipolar. Normally, people who are bipolar have extreme highs and extreme lows. Extreme lows, include severe depression and normally people with this can not even get out of bed. It doesn't seem like your moods are too extreme. Sounds more like moodswings to me.

  5. People are not partially bipolar, and people with bipolar take mood stabilizers, not just antidepressants.

Bipolar episodes in adults last at least one week to months per the DSM (the psychiatric diagnostic bible).  Going up and down as you are describing probably has more to do with your environmental stressors and possibly hormones.  And... mania is far, far more than just feeling real happy.

  6. You do not say how old you are but I will assume you are young. It is obvious you are concerned with how you feel you really should talk to your Mom or a counselor.By the way there is no 'partially bipolar" either you are or you aren't and this is a chemical imbalance in the brain that can be helped with counseling and/or medications. It also runs in families. If you are young please get help because the earlier you get diagnosed with any problem the quicker you can obtain help.Good Luck.
