Am I Crayzy?

Recently, I was called to interview for a job with the same company that I am presently employed with, but it is a job that would have taken me away from my home region. To roam is no prblem with me, the job is a job that would put me on the road with 4 days off a month to return home. Why I ask am I crazy is that this job would have been a significant pay increase, however I have made a commitment that I consider very important to myself, my company and to humanity in general. I had prior to this call accepted the challenge of serving as the Chairman of our local "Relay for Life" Luminary Chairperson and I chose to not interview for the increased pay based on this fact. Should I have abondoned my commitment for money and interviewed and if accepted left my civic responsibility or have I done the correct amirable thing?

  1. yes you CRAYZY

  2. That is for you to know

  3. You should have at least interviewed for it. Relay For Life committee members come and go quite a bit and there is always someone there willing and eager for the chance to take over a leadership position on the Relay committee. Your fellow volunteers would have understood!

  4. Money don't buy happiness and you must admit you would have sold your years for money. You can't buy those back. You did the right thing rest assured.

  5. Couldn't you ask to run a local Relay for Life in the new location and have someone else run it in the old location?  If you ensure that someone runs it well in the old location AND you do the amount of charity work to which you agreed, I do not see it as abandonment.
