  1. Let me introduce you to some genealogical terms.

Nationality is YOUR birth place, and where you are a citizen, meaning you are English.

Ancestry and heritage are a whole new ball game. When you start that, it is about where your ANCESTORS came from.  By that standard.. you are 1/2 Scottish; 1/4th English,  1/4th Welch.

The fine line is when you talk about YOU, compared to your ancestors.

  2. u r British because you were born in Great Britain.  in parts of the world , u would be called a Scot, because you always take your father's bloodline as your heritage.  English is also a term u could call yourself, since u live there.  so u are lots of wonderful things, and you'll enjoy learning when to claim each of those parts of your heritage, even wee folk, pixie , elfin Welsh...which i am part also...from Mann

  3. Yes, you can consider yourself English because you were born there. English is your Nationality. Welsh/Scottish is your Ethnicity.

People seem to confuse Nationality and Ethnicity all the time.

You can refer to yourself as either one. Generally, it's whatever people feel stronger ties to.

  4. You are English by birth (having been born there), but Ethnically you are 1/4 Welsh & English and 1/2 Scot.

  5. It's really two different things.  You're a citizen of England but your race is Scotch/Welsh/English.  If you were born in China would you consider yourself Chinese?

  6. You are English by birth with an ethnicity of scottish and welsh.

Going the blood route you are half scottish and one quarter welsh and one quarter english because of the birth origins of your parents.

I had this explained to me many years ago when doing my family history by a historian and a specialist in ethnic origins.

  7. Why don't you have to ask your parents, whether or not they registered you as a British citizen.

My cousin was born in the back seat of a taxi cab, in downtown Frankfurt, Germany, but is an American citizen, not German.

His father, my uncle, was an American citizen, his mother was a German citizen.

My friend was born in England to an American father and a Welsh mother. She is an American citizen.

  8. Your english because your born there.

  9. You are English because u were born in England
