Question:

Am I Entitled To My Money Back On My Engagement Ring?

by  |  earlier

My fiance proposed to me back in april with a 9ct gold ring, only 6 weeks after having it, the ring snapped in half. I took it back & the jeweller inspected it & it was deemed as faulty goods & a replacement was ordered.

I got my replacement about 6 weeks ago & tonight I noticed this one has snapped too, right on the bottom where the resizing would be done.

Should I be entitled to a refund?

I'm sick of the sales women s****. & rude attitude at this jeweller & i'd like to take my business elsewhere.

I don't wear it work, I take it off before a shower or cleaning with chemicals.

  1. You do not have a right to a refund unless they have a policy specifically stating they give refunds (many jeweler's do not).  There is an implied warranty with merchandise you purchase and they have an obligation to repair or replace (their option) a defective item.

  2. yes!!! but dont hurt ur guys feelings by sayin it was cheap or somethin.

even tho shinnyer gold is prettier the stronger ones are a little duller but hold up very good.-14c is what i like-a little wider too.

u need ur money back--go above all the managers there-get corporates number asap n tell them everything!!! i did that with a ring my hubby got me for vday-they gave me 3 of the same rings but better quality than they had in the store-good luck!!!!!

  3. Yes, if it's broken twice, there is clearly something wrong with it. I would return the ring, get my money back, and go to a different jewelry store.

  4. A 9ct gold  (I didn;t know that that even existed) is gold of very bad quality.  I'm afraid to say that it's hardly any gold on 9kt gold and it will break easily because of the other metals in the aloe. I'm not saying this to be snotty, but to inform you that it's not faulty goods, but rather rings should not be made with such bad quality gold.

If you would like something that willl last you a life time, may I suggest for you to upgrade to a higher grade gold, 14 or 18c will do the trick. Platinum, tintatnim and tungsten are even better choices.

    Good luck

  5. You are most certainly entitled to your money back, that company clearly sells bad jewelry and doesn't care about there products

  6. It might be that the gold content was too low for the way they sized it. Take it to a jeweler who sizes a lot of rings, and make sure they know the content. The more gold there is in the alloy the softer it is (and therefore easier to size).

Your problems with sizing will be worse if you have tungsten, etc, as they are a lot less soft than gold.

  7. It sounds like shoddy workmanship to me. I think you're absolutely entitled to you're money back, but next time you should probably go with 14kt gold.

  8. You can try.  most jewelers have a 30 day return policy.  but do your best for a refund since this si the second time.  Or get a replacements again but not resized and take it elsewhere to have it changed.

  9. Yes definately , why would you want to buy a broken ring...obviously the ring sizer guy cant do his job right, demand a refund or request someone else to resize it and get them to pay.
