Question:

Am I Lifting correctly?

I just got a job lifting buckets and heavy big windows but the frist week was hard and my back is sore.If there a correct way or is it how my back suppose to feel and i should use exercises to strengthen it?

  1. You aint meant to lift with your back. From the sounds of it, you bend down with your back, pick up the object and bend up again. Never do that, ebcause you will eventually break your back like that.

    You should do some stretches on that back, to ease the pain a little.

    Your backs for support, not lifting. Your legs however are meant for lifting.

    Next time you lift, you should seriously squat down next to the object, whilst keeping your back straight, hold the item and make sure all the weight is handled in both your hands or arms, and squat-lift it to lift it up.

    Remember this, your legs aren't the strongest group of muscle in your body for nothing!


  2. Hey yeah you should seriously check that your bending your knees when you lift and if it's to heavy, try to share the load with someone.

    Some exercises to try is yoga or pilates (helps heaps for stretching and relaxing). Also its nearly free if you just borrow yoga videos from movie stores.
