I have been researching over and over again and finding mostly that false positives are rare. well for the last week i have had light spotting (sorry tmi) but just brown, my period is initially due this monday. but a friend of mine was telling me that she had the same kind of spotting right before she found out she was pregnant, and i was starting to think that anyway, my face is severely broken out more than it has ever been, but i just moved to california so maybe its just the different air, i have been getting a little light headed and a little sick to my stomach.. well i took a pregnancy test yesterday and it i looked at it maybe not even a minute after and i saw the positive line and i dropped it, being so surprised, i went and got my husband and it kinda looked even fainter then about 4 minutes later it was very dark and clear. i was more than convinced, i decided i would take another in the morning, but i only waited 2 hours and it was NEGATIVE! later on that night another NEGATIVE and then my first morning pee and it was negative too... so what was it a false positive or what? i am not on any fertility drugs, in fact i was on birth control but i stopped the day before when i started to believe i was. i still haven't received my period but its not due til monday. so what do you think? what should i do?

  1. You are pregnant! congrats. False negatives are very common. Go get a blood test to confirm.

  2. Wait until you miss your period and then test again. Good luck.

  3. False negatives happen a lot!! I have a friend that took a home test only to see the negative symbol. She went to the doctor and found out that she was three months pregnant.

  4. I would suggest waiting a few days and then testing again. It sounds as though you might have tested too early. If you're pregnant, 2-3 days would give the hcg time to increase and you would have a more accurate result.

  5. Definitely get a beta-hcg quantitative blood test. Make sure your doctor knows you did get a positive test once before  (that way they don't treat you like a crazy person!) Lots of ~*baby dust*~
